Because of the ever-increasing geographical mobility of the world's peoples, Christians live and work with persons from a variety of cultures, worldviews and religions. Immigration to the U.S. from Asia, Latin America and Africa has had a significant impact on American culture and society. The ability to minister in the 21st Century presupposes an awareness of the groups within one's local communkty, knowledge of their religious traditions and worldviews, and the ability to interact intelligently with people of vastly different backgrounds. Ministering faithfully implies the development of a Christology that deals with religious pluralism and lays the foundation for a recognition of the fact of diversity, but also provides a biblical response or approach to Christian witness and ministry in today's world of competing beliefs. The purpose of this course is to engage the student in the important issues related to being a Christian witness in a pluralistic context.
